About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Site Manager to join our team at Galliford Try. As a key member of our Environment Business, you will be responsible for managing multiple packages of work, supervising site teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a section of works on a day-to-day basis, including supervision and monitoring of site teams and supply chains.
- Plan, control, and monitor the progress of works, coordinating sections of projects as allocated.
- Manage multiple packages of work in conjunction with the commercial team, taking full ownership of costs for assigned sections of work.
- Ensure changes in scope (operations, commercial, program, or design) are captured and managed.
- Understand temporary works requirements.
- Undertake value engineering solutions.
- Attend external meetings with clients and stakeholders, building effective relationships.
- Report to the Project Manager on progress and performance.
- Assist the Project Manager in administering cost forecasts, valuations, and reporting systems.
- Implement and attend weekly and monthly site meetings.
- Ensure site teams and supply chains work with the latest design information.
- Undertake material take-offs where required and ensure materials are ordered and reconciled.
- Conduct regular H&S checks and CDM audits.
- Ensure Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Permit to Work systems, site inductions, and safety briefings are correctly carried out.
- Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and problems.
- Ensure and maintain strict quality control procedures.
- Ensure site teams keep site diaries up to date.
- Effectively lead and manage direct reports, ensuring appropriate competence is maintained, including annual PDRs.
- Monitor capability of staff and contractors to undertake current and prospective workloads and report to senior management.
- Identify and assist in introducing new processes, techniques, and innovations on site.
About You:
We are looking for a highly organized and experienced professional with:
- Able to manage multiple or larger packages of work.
- Ability to read and interpret data, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple workloads.
- Adept at interfacing with site teams, subcontractors, designers, and clients.
- Strong knowledge of CDM and NEC.
- Able to interpret, extract, and disseminate works information relating to the program of works.
- Proven leadership and delegation skills.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- Aware of individual Health and Safety Responsibilities and adheres to company H&S policy and procedures.
Technical/Professional Qualifications Required:
- SMSTS.
- Relevant CSCS card.
- Fully conversant with the Microsoft suite of packages.
- TWC (Desirable).
- First Aid (Desirable).
- Relevant Civil Engineering Experience.
- A working knowledge of one functional area through job experience and training.
- Responsible for completing PDRs for all direct reports.
- Likely to have previous relevant business experience or transferable skills gained in other areas.
- Desirable Part-qualified professional in relevant discipline.
