We are seeking a skilled Prototype Engineer to join our team, supporting us in our mission to innovate and improve our products.

Salary

£65,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description

As a Prototype Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building and testing new and revalidated products, working closely with the purchasing and design teams to ensure accurate procurement and clarification of engineering issues.

You will utilise workshop hand tools to build and perform basic testing upon prototype assemblies, adhering to internal testing processes and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and build products from technical drawings and CAD data.
  2. Devise and build work holding bracketry to enable testing to be completed.
  3. Carry out internal testing processes on electro-mechanical products to the required regulations (training on testing).
  4. Report information gathered from prototype builds to the Engineering team to continue development.
  5. Attend external test houses in Europe to assist with assembly modification during test runs (approximately once a quarter).

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding and practical ability with mechanical systems.
  • Experience with a wide range of workshop hand tools.
  • Confident reading mechanical engineering drawings and building to drawings.
  • Willingness and flexibility for infrequent travel nationally and internationally when required.
  • Full UK Driving licence.
  • Engineering qualifications, experience with lathes and Milling machines and an ability to manipulate CAD models (View) are all advantageous but not essential.
