About the Role

Ferrovial Construction is seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team in London Heathrow. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions that meet the required quality, health, safety, and wellbeing standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tendering design packages from project briefs received by the client, ensuring scope and negotiating offers upstream and downstream.
  • Coordinating the design team activities to ensure the project design is completed on budget and on time.
  • Monitoring and tracking progress of the design, managing any slippages, and being the interface with the management team.
  • Actively defining and managing design interfaces.
  • Leading the review of the design with interested parties.
  • Promoting, exploring, and materializing value engineering opportunities throughout the design process.
  • Working with the procurement team to ensure compliance with financial parameters and assisting in defining scopes for subcontracting different works packages.
  • Ensuring the design complies with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
  • Working with the Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental teams to support audits to consultants.
  • Liaising with client representatives on the design development as required.
  • Reviewing and agreeing consultants' monthly applications for payment.
  • Assisting the Design Manager on the management of the design team, giving advice on appropriate resourcing levels, effective performance management, employee development, and motivation.
Requirements
  • Experience in design coordination roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed and determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance.
  • Proactive approach to incorporate new technologies on site at different stages of the project.
  • Experience of working in a cost-conscious environment.
  • People management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at a variety of levels.
  • Excellent written and oral English language.
  • Experience of working in the construction industry.
