Senior Transport Planner

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transport Planner to join our team at Great Bear. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our services.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and oversee the transport day operation, ensuring service levels are achieved and maintained.
- Optimize resource and adherence to WTD & EU regulations and compliance legalities.
- Plan driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery/collection times, creating and updating daily run summaries.
- Effectively communicate with the Planning team and other depots.
- Provide 24/7 communication transport link with Customer Services and Sales Order Processing.
- Monitor retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries are made within specified windows.
- Find the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times.
- Arrange deliveries using nominated contractors for special instruction deliveries, re-deliveries.
- Communicate any potential failures or changes to the original plan.
- Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near misses are logged and reported.
- Liaise and plan drivers in for meetings/courses as required.
- Significant transport experience in FMCG environment.
- Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Planning and organizing skills, high level of numeracy.
- Strong communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
- Effectively prioritize workload in order to meet set deadlines.
- Able to work as part of a team or individually.
- Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
- Be professional, approachable, and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
