Job Title: Site Environmental Compliance Specialist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Site Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for ensuring full environmental compliance at our site, overseeing and ensuring that all site characterisation and other activities comply with environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Identify and document any potential environmental hazards or breaches of compliance.
- Review Contractor work plans to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure all site activities comply with local and national environmental laws and regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on environmental performance and incidents, and communicate findings to the Site Manager and Environmental Technical Lead.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
- Provide guidance and advice to the site team(s) on environmental best practices and sustainability measures.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate environmental impacts.
- Maintain accurate records of all environmental inspections, monitoring activities, and compliance reports.
- Ensure all environmental documentation is up to date and readily accessible.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental role within the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent relationship building and in-person communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and software.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various sites as needed.
