Role Overview

The UK Atomic Energy Authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at West Burton. As a key member of our environmental team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring full environmental compliance at the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
  • Identify and document any potential environmental hazards or breaches of compliance.
  • Review Contractor work plans to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with local and national environmental laws and regulations.
  • Prepare detailed reports on environmental performance and incidents, and communicate findings to the Site Manager and Environmental Technical Lead.
  • Assist in the preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the site team(s) on environmental best practices and sustainability measures.
  • Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate environmental impacts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all environmental inspections, monitoring activities, and compliance reports.
  • Ensure all environmental documentation is up to date and readily accessible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an environmental role within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and in-person communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using environmental monitoring equipment and software.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to various sites as needed.
