Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time evening instructor to teach essential reading, writing, and math skills to students at our Shelbyville and Winchester campuses. The successful candidate will work in coordination with our full-time instructor to provide instruction and guidance to students.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and stable learning environment
  • Utilize in-class assessment tools to measure student achievement
  • Administer and proctor tests for students
  • Record and submit grades and attendance using Banner
  • Distribute student syllabus and provide guidance on course progress and academic issues
  • Coordinate disciplinary issues with administration and Student Services Coordinator

Requirements

  • Postsecondary degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 3+ years of practical experience teaching essential reading, writing, and math skills
  • Ability to be certified to administer tests within one month of hire date
  • Commitment to remain certified to administer tests
  • Travel to Shelbyville and Winchester campuses required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software needed for the teaching profession
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent organizational and planning skills

Working Conditions

The part-time evening instructor will work approximately 4 hours per night, 2 nights per week, with a shift of 5:30 to 9:30 PM. The instructor will be required to travel to Shelbyville and Winchester campuses.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $25-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
