Nuclear Risk Management Role Overview

AWE Plc is currently recruiting for a Senior Facility Specialist to join our Nuclear Risk Management team, working within our Estates & Liabilities function.

This role is ideal for a facilities manager with a strong understanding of ensuring compliance in a highly regulated, nuclear licensed environment.

As a Senior Facility Specialist, you will play a vital part in monitoring compliance and supporting the team with Periodic Review submissions and shortfall management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with relevant stakeholders to capture, monitor, visualise and champion continuous improvement activities relating to the Nuclear Risk Management programme.
  • Experience of successfully leading, motivating, and managing cross-functional teams to deliver workplace solutions within a highly regulated environment.
  • High Hazard Facility and process safety management experience.
  • Understanding of Nuclear safety, the principles of the safe operating boundary, of operating instructions, of linking documentation, and of quality systems.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Evaluation and successful delivery of innovations and operational improvements.
  • Identification risks and development of control measures to maintain business continuity for the delivery of workplace and facilities services.
  • Institute of Workplace and Facilities management recognised qualifications in Facilities Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond quickly to changing situations and the changing needs of others.
  • Interpretation of corporate plans and objectives and development of specific solutions with Nuclear Safety and Process Management.
  • Experience of working with complex safety documentation such as Safety Cases.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear safety and process management, and operating instructions.
  • Experience of successfully navigating complex cross-discipline, technical and organisational issues.

Security Clearance

You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE Plc.

The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.

Due to the nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston. Typically 4 days onsite per week.
