About the Role

Carrington West is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Engineer to join our team. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing infrastructure projects, working closely with our clients and internal teams to deliver successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop infrastructure projects, including highways, drainage, and infrastructure design
  • Prepare, review, and issue design drawings, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
  • Liaise with clients, other members of the professional team, Local Authorities, and contractors to ensure effective project delivery
  • Provide technical support to other members of the team, including CAD design and drafting
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices

Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate engineering qualification, such as a degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Have considerable experience working in a civil engineering design consultancy, with a strong background in highway construction projects and drainage design
  • Be proficient in the use of CAD software, including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroDrainage
  • Have strong self-motivation and initiative, with the ability to work largely unsupervised and take responsibility for managing the technical approval process
  • Have a strong understanding of highway planning procedures, including Section 38/278 Agreements, UK design principles, and standards
  • Have knowledge of procedures relating to TROs and Road Safety Audits
  • Have familiarity with drainage adoption procedures, including Section 106/104, UK Design principles, and standards
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and other members of the professional team
  • Have good financial and commercial awareness, with the ability to understand and manage project budgets
