About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics Specialist to join our team at ASL. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for identifying and resolving complex electronic issues, working closely with our engineers and technicians to ensure the highest quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise
    • Identify and locate faults in electronic and electrotechnical systems, including PCBs and PCAs.
    • Read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions, including technical drawings and operating procedures.
    • Identify electronic components and understand their operation and uses.
    • Have a good knowledge of test equipment, including their operation and limitations.
  • Assembly and Repair
    • Build up PCBs and PCAs from drawings or other instructions.
    • Rework and modify PCBs through component replacement and track modification.
    • Solder to a good standard and have a knowledge of various solder joints.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance
    • Identify equipment test requirements and conduct testing to component level.
    • Build assemblies, equipment, and test sets from provided drawings and documents.
    • Assembly of wiring and repair/modify looms and population of various types of military and aviation connectors.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    • Work well in a team or as an individual and have the ability to clearly communicate with colleagues, superiors, and other departments.
    • Communicate any concerns with colleagues and superiors.
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to identify equipment operation and establish test requirements, required test equipment, and produce test set proposals and test specifications.
  • Soldering to IPC 7711/7721 standard.
  • Ability to strip survey equipment and produce build plans/procedures and kitting lists.
  • Experience in designing new equipment and test sets.
  • Completing reports such as test reports, build reports, and other compliance paperwork.
  • Working knowledge of CAD packages and other test and simulation software.
  • Good understanding of analogue electronic circuits and discrete digital circuits, including both fault-finding and design.
Requirements
  • Reporting weekly on status of current jobs, including issues and stock levels.
  • Working to the customer's delivery timescale and ensuring that any issues or expected overruns are reported in a timely fashion.
  • Ensuring that work areas and tooling used are suitable and well-maintained, meeting company compliance and standards.
  • Ensuring that work areas comply with the 5S process.
  • Reporting any issues observed, such as defects, faults, or stock levels, in a timely manner.
