Care and Support Worker Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Care and Support Worker to join our team at Camphill Village Trust. As a Care and Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to our residents, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Planning and Delivery: Plan and organize the delivery of support and care by your team on each shift, ensuring that there are up-to-date person-centred needs assessments, support plans, and risk assessments in place.
  • Resident Support: Ensure that residents have identified key workers and receive support and care in accordance with their person-centred needs assessments, support plans, and risk assessments.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Support residents to maintain a clean, tidy, and welcoming living environment, plan and prepare healthy, balanced, and nutritious meals, and assist with personal care where required.
  • Communication and Liaison: Liaise professionally with residents' parents, social workers, CPNs, and other professionals to ensure that the network of support around each resident is functioning effectively.
  • Staff Supervision and Development: Ensure that new members of staff are inducted into the service and that they are provided with the support needed to complete the Care Certificate where relevant.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain all health and safety within the home and report any potential hazards immediately, undertaking regular quality audits.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Reasonable general education (evidence of numeracy and literacy) and a minimum Level 3 Diploma (or working towards) in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least three years' previous experience of working within a care or support setting, ideally with adults with additional/complex needs, with at least one year at a more senior level.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of person-centred support, positive behaviour approaches, and care planning, needs and risk assessment, safeguarding protocols, first-line supervision, health and safety, and equalities and human rights.
