About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our caring and creative team as a Special Education Support Assistant at Ross High School in Tranent, East Lothian.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the personal, physical, medical, and nutritional needs of young people with complex additional support needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • To provide care and assistance to individuals and small groups of pupils with additional support needs.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children with additional support needs is essential.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils to carry out actions and supports from Individualised Education Plans developed by class teachers, in conjunction with therapists, and Coordinated Support Plans, personal care plans etc.

They will also develop a knowledge and awareness of individual pupils and their capabilities and highlight/discuss any issues which will assist the class team in the child planning process.

Job Requirements
  • PVG Membership is required for this post.
  • Full-time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) but part-time hours/session posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
About Us

Ross High School is a co-educational, non-denominational school situated in Tranent, approximately 12 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The school roll is currently 1252 pupils although this is due to increase over the next few years. We have good facilities for students and are continually looking for ways to broaden the learning environment out with the school, working together with partners within the community.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate of pay for this post is £14.00, and we offer a range of benefits including access to training and development opportunities.
