Job Title: Quality Assurance Officer

Responsible to: Quality and Compliance Manager

Location: All branches nationally £30 k per year

  • Holiday entitlement 20 days a year, growing a day with each year of service
  • Confident driver with own car required for national travel

Key Purpose of the Job Role:

A pivotal role ensuring services are safe and compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements to achieve outstanding ratings and outcomes for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits and report on outcomes, implementing recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Liaise with the Care Quality Commission and other regulatory bodies, attending meetings and contributing to discussions on quality and governance
  • Contribute to the design and development of systems to ensure quality assurance findings are acted upon
  • Assist in writing and updating quality assurance procedures, policies, and practice standards to support good practice across services
  • Support Branch Managers in implementing action plans to address shortfalls in service provision
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits in all branches under the direction of the Quality and Compliance Manager
  • Lead on creating detailed recommendations and action plans, followed by robust validation processes
  • Work closely with Branch Managers to monitor quality and safety, ensuring recommendations from audits are implemented effectively and timely
  • Provide monthly reports on audits undertaken, key themes, and action plans
  • Escalate non-compliance appropriately and quickly, both verbally and in writing
  • Support good governance and continuous improvement across the organization
  • Recognize good and outstanding practices, working collaboratively with local branches to evidence and share best practices
  • Work in partnership with operational managers and carers to ensure best practice is adhered to, reporting any shortfalls
  • Support evidence of good practice for CQC/other inspection processes
  • Highlight and report any safeguarding issues, concerns, or complaints encountered during auditing and monitoring
  • Attend meetings as required to present audit findings
  • Update the Quality and Compliance Manager and/or Directors on progress towards addressing issues in underperforming branches
  • Adhere to confidentiality regarding our customers, their families, and colleagues
  • Uphold the Lotus Home Care values at all times
  • Take a flexible approach to working hours and duties, traveling to branches and staying away from home as needed to meet business requirements
  • Perform any other reasonable duties to meet business needs

Requirements:

  • Experience working at Registered or Senior Manager level in the domiciliary care sector
  • Experience in quality assurance and/or audit processes in a care environment, preferably domiciliary care
  • Knowledge of CQC regulations and standards and how they translate to service delivery
  • Ability to influence change and achieve results
  • Ability to guide operations managers on evidencing compliance with the five key lines of enquiry and regulations
  • Good knowledge of key research and best practice guidance
  • High-level effective communication skills and ability to work with colleagues and other key stakeholders to achieve results
  • Good understanding of GDPR and data protection
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be creative and think 'outside the box' to find solutions to problems
  • Ability and confidence to challenge poor practice in a constructive way
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Excellent report writing/literacy skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and heavy caseloads
  • Flexibility of approach to job role and working hours to meet business needs
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including tailoring communication to different 'audiences'
  • Excellent organizational skills – ability to plan ahead, meet deadlines, and factor in the unexpected
  • Good working knowledge of information technology systems, preferably Care planner, PASS, Google Docs/Sheets/Forms
