Job Title: Tooling Production Engineer

Blue Arrow is proud to be working in partnership with a leading manufacturer of boilers, heat pumps, and heating systems. We are seeking a skilled Tooling Production Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis at their Belper plant.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be part of the engineering department responsible for current model, new product introduction, engineering, and continuous improvement activities within the plant. You will work closely with the tooling team to resolve quality and mechanical problems, plan and provide component samples for downstream process trials, and drive actions to improve KPIs for production attainment, efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the tooling team to resolve quality and mechanical issues, and repair minor problems with equipment adjustments as required.
  • Plan and provide relevant component samples for downstream process trials, R&D trails, and sample builds.
  • Drive actions and improvements with cross-functional teams to enhance production attainment, efficiency, quality, and scrap reduction objectives.
  • Support production and tool technicians in ensuring robust systems and processes are in place for managing tools, tool room, and changeovers.
  • Work with NPI Project engineers and the tool team to implement new products to existing and new production lines.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Educated to degree level, or relevant qualifications and industrial experience.
  • Previous experience as a Tooling/Production Engineer or similar.
  • Knowledge of press tooling, jigs, and fixtures, as well as lean manufacturing principles.
  • A strong background in mechanical engineering, with relevant practical experience in press tooling, sheet metal, or jigs and fixtures manufacturing environments.
  • The ability to manage small to medium-sized projects, with control of specification to implementation, and a strong understanding of timelines and presenting status to a team.
  • A strong understanding of press shop, production lines, and tooling KPIs from O.E.E, CMM reports, Cpk, FMEA, control plans, etc.
