Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to lead our mental health services in providing high-quality, specialised clinical pharmacy care. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs in mental health.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the provision of a high-quality, specialised clinical pharmacy service to ensure the safe and effective use of drugs in mental health.
  2. To be responsible for the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to nominated areas, including attendance at consultant ward rounds and providing expert pharmaceutical advice.
  3. Develop and monitor pharmacy initiatives to promote seamless transfer of patients from secondary care to primary care and vice versa.
  4. Monitor prescribing practice to promote cost-effective and economic use of resources and contribute to the establishment and implementation of prescribing guidelines within mental health.
  5. Lead on clinical governance and risk management to optimise the management of medicines in mental health.
  6. Provide mentoring, training, supervision, and line management of mental health substantive and rotational pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy staff.
  7. Act as a Designated Supervisor to a Trainee Pharmacist and mentor/buddy other NMPs within Mental Health.
  8. Develop and deliver appropriate training and education to healthcare colleagues, carer groups, and outside agencies to promote the safe use and clinical application of medicines within mental health.

Requirements

  • Highly developed analytical and judgemental skills for analysing drug and patient information in mental health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with healthcare staff and professionals working in the multidisciplinary team within mental health.
  • Able to work safely in the dispensary, ward, and office environments and ensure safety and security of medicines, prescription stationery, and patient identifiable documents.
  • Ability to drive and use own car is an advantage.
