Join Livability, a leading charity that supports people with disabilities and mental health conditions, as a Maintenance Technician. We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual to support our maintenance team in ensuring the smooth and effective running of our College and wider site.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the Maintenance Team in the maintenance and repair of all buildings, fixtures, and fittings, including electrical, heating, plumbing, and alarm systems.
  • Assist with the general running of the site, including moving furniture and equipment, cleaning drains and guttering, and ensuring site safety for all users.
  • Support the opening and locking up of buildings as directed by the Maintenance Lead, which may require early start/late finish rotas.
  • Share responsibility for all maintenance checks to ensure site compliance.
  • Advise the Maintenance Lead on ordering requirements and support in managing stock and equipment needed to maintain site health and safety.
  • Participate in in-house training and/or external courses to improve skills relevant to the post, such as working at height, pool management, and PAT testing.
  • Complete all required online training within set timescales.
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety procedures on site.
  • Be prepared to work out of hours and at weekends if necessary.
  • Be prepared to work at other local sites.
  • Agree to work to all existing and future Livability/School policies.
  • Maintain the Christian aims of Livability.
Person Specification:
  • Proven literacy and IT skills for maintaining accurate records and completing online training.
  • Valid and full, clean driving license.
  • General awareness and ability to understand and apply regulations, such as health and safety and manual handling regulations.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of general maintenance processes.
  • Hands-on experience in maintenance of buildings.
  • Working knowledge of safety issues/procedures.
  • Good DIY skills.
  • Able to operate electrical/hand tools/equipment.
  • Able to clear drain blockages.
  • Able to carry out practical landscaping tasks.
Desirable Experience:
  • Pat testing qualification.
  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Basic plumbing skills.
  • Working at height certification.
  • Decorating skills.
  • Skilled trade/building work.
