Strategic Commercial Director for Life Sciences Consulting

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Commercial Director for Life Sciences Consulting to join our team at Clarivate Analytics. As a member of our commercial consulting practice, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and delivering high-quality services to our clients.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for generating project revenue and actively managing key account relationships. You will work closely with senior client executives to identify and sell sizeable consulting projects and lead internal teams in delivering the work. Additionally, you will share in the responsibility of managing the business and staff, while creating your own intellectual capital.
About the Team
Our Life Sciences and Healthcare vertical leverages enriched data, insights, and analytics, workflow solutions, and expert services to serve 48 of the top 50 pharma companies across the world. Our 180+ team member commercial consulting practice spans the US, Europe, Middle East, Asia-Pacific, and Japan, enabling clients to make informed, strategic decisions across development, access, and commercialization of innovative, life-saving therapies and technologies.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 15+ years of combined experience in management consulting, of which at least 5 years have been as a senior client-facing management consultant.
- Specialization in Commercial Strategy and Execution, including but not limited to Brand Launch Strategy and Support (incl Program Management and Brand Performance Tracking), Integrated Patient Journey, Customer and Influence Network Mapping, Customer Engagement / Go To Market Model Design and Execution, Customer Profiling, Segmentation, and Targeting, Promotional Mix Optimization, Customer Digital / Omnichannel Engagement and Digital Messaging.
- The ability to generate at least $3M in annual single-count revenue by maintaining existing clients and actively opening new accounts.
- Extensive project management experience across small-medium-large-sized project/case teams, and a range of project scopes and sizes (i.e., $100K to $1M+).
- Strong working knowledge of at least 2 to 3 high-interest therapy areas such as rare diseases, oncology, neurology, diabetes, auto-immune disease, and metabolism.
- Masters degree in a life science, engineering, or business-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- MPH/MBA/PhD from a top-tier US or European university.
- Extensive rolodex with a minimum of 75+ client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Generate project revenue and actively manage key account relationships.
- Support project planning and execution by overseeing project managers to ensure quality delivery on client commitments, needs, and objectives.
- Manage project cost structure and margin when needed.
- As a subject matter expert, maintain and enhance therapeutic and domain area expertise to apply during client engagements, thought leadership initiatives, and business development efforts.
- As a leader and mentor, inspire and motivate teams to help grow and retain talent through coaching and development at all levels; demonstrate commitment to personal and professional development through trainings, unstructured learnings, workshops, and conferences; contribute to the social environment by executing assigned firm-building activities, including knowledge management, internal training sessions.
- Travel to/from client sites and external events as needed to serve as the face of Clarivate consulting during external networking events, conferences, workshops, etc.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary package, estimated around $200,000-$250,000 per annum, based on industry standards and the level of experience required for this role.
