Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Substance Misuse Support Specialist within our organization.

This role is crucial in addressing substance misuse within a correctional environment, working with individuals who have received custodial sentences. The clientele often includes those with challenging backgrounds, including adverse childhood experiences, cognitive impairments, and various mental health conditions. Each day presents unique challenges and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

We seek dedicated professionals who thrive in a dynamic setting and are eager to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and addressing the substance misuse requirements of your assigned clients
  • Facilitating recovery pathways and minimizing the risk of reoffending
  • Participating in a collaborative team environment with opportunities for peer support
  • Contributing to the enhancement of service delivery
  • Engaging in flexible work arrangements that adapt to the needs of the environment, including undertaking new responsibilities related to substance misuse (comprehensive training will be provided)
  • Working a varied shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays
  • Utilizing your knowledge of substance misuse issues, managing cases effectively, and developing and leading group interventions

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in behavioral change, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to understand and support clients with intricate needs.
