Job Title: PRU Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PRU Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist Pupil Referral Unit in Wandsworth, Southwest London.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with students who have struggled to access mainstream education, providing them with the support and guidance they need to succeed.

As a PRU Teaching Assistant, you will be working with students across KS3 and KS4, supporting them in their academic and personal development.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience of supporting within a Pupil Referral Unit, although this is not essential. What is essential is a passion for working with students who require additional support and a commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.

About the School:

Our Pupil Referral Unit caters to 60 children of secondary ages who have been referred to the site for a variety of reasons, including having an EHCP, being permanently excluded, or having prolonged periods of absence from school.

We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and inclusive environment that allows our students to thrive and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students across KS3 and KS4 in their academic and personal development
  • Work with students who have struggled to access mainstream education
  • Provide individualized support to students who require additional help
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement effective learning plans
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of working with students who have SEN
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment
  • Passion for working with students who require additional support
