About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our exceptional team of Secondary School's SEN department in York, North Yorkshire.

The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) and hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, Diploma or Qualification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Working with children and young adults on a 1:1 and small group basis to help overcome their barriers to learning.
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons to students identified as requiring additional support.
  • Supervising students during class activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assisting in the planning and preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Collaborating with teachers and parents to provide regular updates on student progress.

Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of SEMH.
  • Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, Diploma or Qualification.
  • Have at least 6 months experience in an educational setting which can be referenced.
  • Be able to engage with young people and build effective relationships.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour within a school setting.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
