About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our exceptional team of Secondary School's SEN department in York, North Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Work with children and young adults on a 1:1 and small group basis to help overcome their barriers to learning.
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons to students identified as requiring additional support.
  • Supervise students during class activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide regular updates on student progress.
Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
  • Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, Diploma or Qualification.
  • Have at least 6 months experience in an educational setting which can be referenced.
  • Be able to engage with young people and build effective relationships.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour within a school setting.
  • Be aware of and knowledgeable about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD and SEMH.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education.
