Unlocking the Future of AI and Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly skilled Silicon Photonics Engineer to join our client, a pioneering London-based Computer Networking company. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge products in AI and Machine Learning, with applications for increased productivity in Data Centres and HPCs.

About the Role

This role involves designing, developing, and testing iterative product prototypes to bring innovative solutions to market. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for hands-on design, simulation, testing, and collaboration with fabrication and packaging teams and vendors.

The ideal candidate will have 4 to 5 years of experience in Silicon Photonics, acquired through academic or commercial work. Your expertise should include:

  • Design and simulation of photonic components and system-level functionality and performance.
  • Prototyping original photonic components and architectures.
  • Closely working with the fabrication team and external manufacturing partners for component design, process integration, and performance monitoring.
  • Developing component and system-level optical testing plans and optoelectronic testing setups.

You will also contribute to the expansion of our IP portfolio through patent filing.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience designing and optimizing silicon/III-V photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
  • Tape-out experience with photonics foundries.
  • Expertise in photonic integrated circuits design CAD tools.
  • Understanding of planar waveguide optics, including passive and active components.
  • Experience in RF/SI simulation and optimization, from components to systems.
  • Understanding of CMOS manufacturing process in relation to photonic devices.
  • Knowledge of mainstream photonic components and systems simulation and layout packages.
  • Proficiency in Python and other scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with complex optoelectronic lab testing techniques and equipment.

A Ph.D. with research in silicon photonics or relevant subjects is preferred.
