Clinical Research Fellow in Cardiology

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Clinical Research Fellow in Cardiology. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and clinical practice in cardiac electrophysiology and devices, with a focus on atrial fibrillation ablation.
This 12-month fixed-term post offers comprehensive training in invasive and non-invasive arrhythmia management, providing the ideal platform for those aiming to become a cardiac electrophysiologist. You will work under the direct supervision of consultant cardiac electrophysiologists, including Dr Hao Chin, and have access to established academic support and expertise.
As a Clinical Research Fellow, you will be involved in various AF research projects, including assessing the efficacy and effectiveness of high-power, short-duration radiofrequency ablation. You will also participate in other related research activities, such as developing towards an MD/PhD thesis, gaining experience in patient management, and contributing to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The successful candidate will possess substantial training in general cardiology, hold an NTN or equivalent, and have a sound base of experience in device therapy for brady and tachycardia treatments. They should also demonstrate a clear interest and motivation to develop high-level electrophysiology and/or devices skills/experience.
A specimen timetable is available, highlighting a balanced mix of research activity, administrative tasks, and educational responsibilities. Opportunities to participate in out-patient clinics, attend electrophysiology or devices lists, and engage in teaching and supervision of junior medical staff are also available.
To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's values and behaviours, possess MB BS or equivalent qualifications, and be eligible for full GMC registration. Experience in medical audit, commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and understanding the place of research are essential qualities required for this position.
