Homelessness Support Specialist

Sanctuary Supported Living is delighted to be recruiting for a Homelessness Support Specialist at our Homelessness Service.


We're a national organisation, but we're not-for-profit and we think locally by putting our customers at the heart of what we do.


We're committed to being our best and helping customers to be their best, as we support them on their pathways for independence.


Our team is dedicated to providing personalised support to customers who have experienced or are at threat of homelessness.


As a Homelessness Support Specialist, you will provide support to encourage our customers to maximise their own potential and independence.


You will be a first point of call to receive and direct all customer and customer queries.


You will support progress towards independence in managing positive mental health.


You will offer one-to-one support as required.


You will promote safety by undertaking risk assessments and reviewing customers' needs.


You will regularly assess the needs of customers, writing and updating support plans.


You will develop professional relationships with customers, using appropriate and clear communication to ensure their personal choice, privacy and dignity is maintained.


You will deliver small group activities to promote recovery and well-being.


Skills and experiences:



  • Experience of working with adults who have experienced homelessness.
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong "can-do" attitude.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to react quickly to changing priorities whilst working to deadlines and targets.
  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards is essential.
