About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen brigade at The Principal York. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the Executive Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including rota planning, stock control, and staff delegation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Head Chef in managing the kitchen brigade, including planning and implementing menus, controlling stock levels, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge required to deliver exceptional service.
  • Contribute to the creation of new and exciting dishes, working closely with the Executive Head Chef to develop menus that showcase our culinary expertise.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring that all kitchen staff are aware of their responsibilities in this area.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including front of house and events, to ensure seamless service delivery and exceptional guest experiences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-end hotel or restaurant environment.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work varied shifts and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional service and exceeding guest expectations.
