As a specialist in highways construction, we have been involved in large-scale UK and international construction projects within the highways, airfields, and marine sectors, as well as offering highways maintenance services and manufacturing our own innovative surfacing products.

Main Responsibilities

As a SHE Manager, you will provide an information and advisory service to the Management and employees of Colas Limited on Health and Safety and Environmental issues in accordance with the dictates of Legislation, Group, and Company Policy. This will involve project-specific forward planning and site visits, including the completion of inspections, audits, and activities associated with project site start requirements.

  • To perform audits on safety and environmental risk areas.
  • To contribute to the review and revision of HSEQ policies, plans, documented procedures, and forms.
  • To ensure Inspection and Testing requirements are maintained throughout our activities.
  • To undertake safety audits and toolbox talks as required by the contract.
  • To provide strong awareness of CDM requirements, utilizing knowledge and experience of highways maintenance.
  • To ensure all activities are undertaken with due regard for the environment, to prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements, and minimize environmental impact.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent as a minimum. Technical or Chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH) and have obtained a NEBOSH diploma standard or higher. You will have relevant HSEQ experience in civil engineering and build environments and hold a high level of experience in highway construction and maintenance.

As a Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager, you will be able to provide leadership and management utilizing practical experience developed from within this business and/or the industry sector. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and forward-thinking individual with strong commercial acumen who has previous experience of managing high-performing teams. A valid UK driving license is essential for this role.
