Job Summary

This role is an exciting opportunity to support the educational services provided to students in a semi-rural school setting. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational programs and services provided to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines and activities.
  • Supports communication between teachers and parents, ensuring effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, including toileting, meals, and lifting, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Communicates with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information, using clear and concise language.
  • Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to school policy and procedure, and seeks support from teachers and other staff members as needed.
  • Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs, independently or under minimal supervision, and contributes to the development of lesson plans and activities.
  • Provides medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance, and maintains confidentiality and discretion.
  • Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille, ensuring equal access to education and communication.

  • Individuals with the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position, including a strong commitment to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information, ensuring the trust and respect of students, teachers, and other staff members.
