About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Pharmacist to join our team as a Senior Cardiology Pharmacist - Clinical Lead at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a world-renowned heart and lung centre, providing the highest quality care for patients and conducting world-leading research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver, develop, and evaluate our clinical pharmacy service to cardiology patients, including those with congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension.
  • Lead our clinical pharmacy service to cardiology patients, ensuring safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs.
  • Monitor clinical pharmacy services to cardiology patients, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
  • Work collaboratively with senior pharmacy and medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, and management to develop and implement pharmacy services.
  • Provide evaluated pharmaceutical and financial information, including high-cost medicines funded via individual funding requests.
  • Identify changes in prescribing practices that may impact on the drugs budget and implement strategies to optimize medication use.
Requirements
  • MPharm degree
  • Registration with GPhC
  • Higher degree/Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice, or equivalent
  • Experience in managing clinical pharmacy services, including leadership and management of teams
  • Strong clinical skills, including ability to provide safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to evaluate performance of junior staff and implement strategies for improvement
