We are committed to excellence in financial control and reporting. As a Funding and Balance Sheet Controller at Goldman Sachs, you will play a key role in ensuring the firm meets all financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution.

Our team measures the profitability of every aspect of the firm's business, ensuring compliance with regulations governing transactions in the financial markets. We're looking for a bright, driven professional to join our Controllers team, who is keen to use and develop technical accounting skills to provide high-quality reporting and analysis of entities' assets and liabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports under US GAAP and IFRS for senior management, directors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of legal entities, including their investments, business strategies, and associated technical accounting requirements.
  • Take ownership of secured funding tax and reporting requirements, becoming a subject matter expert.
  • Understand regulatory developments and proactively identify solutions, such as NSFR.
  • Drive projects for automation of balance sheet and related reporting.
  • Facilitate consolidated reporting of the Goldman Sachs Group with regular interaction with Funding and Balance Sheet teams.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across the firm, including Funding and Product Control, Global Controllers, Corporate Treasury, Risk, Engineering, and Tax.

Requirements:

  • Recently qualified accountant – ACA or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate technical accounting knowledge in your current area of expertise.
  • Experience in preparing audited financial statements under US GAAP or IFRS is an advantage.
  • A track record of improving processes and adding value to clients/stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with problem-solving ability and sound judgment in a highly regulated environment.
  • Functional expertise, keeping up-to-date with emerging business, economic, and market trends.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and initiative to broaden knowledge and resolve accounting issues.
  • Personal drive and motivation, handling multiple tasks and taking initiative to improve performance.
