About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Economist to join our team at the Greater London Authority (GLA). This is an exciting opportunity to work on various projects related to education and skills in London, using economic data and analysis to inform policy development.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics, with experience in conducting research and analysis. They will be responsible for providing high-quality economic information, analysis, and advice to support the GLA's skills strategy and policy development.

The role will involve working with large administrative datasets, including the Individualised Learner Record and Longitudinal Education Outcomes datasets. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the GLA as an authoritative source of reliable data, information, and analysis about London's skills supply and labour market.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical expertise to support the development of education and skills policies
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop and implement data-driven solutions
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging trends and issues in the field of economics and education

We offer a competitive salary of £52,000 - £62,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including 30 days annual leave, interest-free season ticket loan, and a career average pension scheme.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or professional qualification in economics or a related subject
  • Experience of conducting research and/or complex analysis to inform policy and strategy development
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in using project management, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software
  • Demonstrated capacity to use specialised statistical software packages for statistical and econometric analysis
