About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Handler to join our team at Hastings Direct. As a Senior Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of high value claims, including gathering information to enable early liability decisions and considering economic settlements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of high value claims, including gathering information and making liability decisions.
- Act as a technical referral point for junior claims colleagues, providing guidance and support to develop their technical skills.
- Provide support to the Bodily Injury Unit team through mentoring, training, and other projects.
- Carry out technical audits and record findings, highlighting knowledge shortfalls or trends.
- Ensure all cases within your financial handling authority are referred to your mentor at agreed times.
- Manage your own self-development, agreeing a personal development plan with your team leader and working towards it.
Requirements
- Substantial knowledge and experience of settling claims in excess of £25k, including litigation.
- Colleague coaching and development knowledge, with good team working and building skills.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, combined with natural problem-solving ability.
