Job Title: Materials Manager
KIRCHHOFF Automotive is a development partner to the automotive industry, with a global presence in 11 countries and 30 production plants. As a Materials Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.
Your Responsibilities:
- Determine and/or assist in schedules required to produce customer products within negotiated timelines using computerized systems.
- Plan requirements necessary for materials, capacities for machines, and labor-hours to meet production schedules.
- Generate production schedules based on customer needs and on-hand inventories.
- Reconcile on-hand inventories with manufacturing/distribution inventories to reduce errors.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and levels for components, raw materials, and purchased parts through cycle counting and regular system maintenance.
- Responsible to maintain accurate inventory storage locations and control within the facility.
- Responsible to maintain acceptable inventory levels (turns).
- Provide leadership for local purchasing activities.
- Manage all aspects of Suppliers (MRO & Production materials).
- Monitor and ensure all customer demands and ratings are met.
- Reviews routings & BOM's of each component/product, part, and inventory planning data.
- Manage all aspects of Customer Service, Shipping, and Receiving.
- Maintain an accurate database of customers' required documents.
- Ensure the accuracy of on-time deliveries, shipping quantities, and tagging/labeling.
- Ensure accurate, timely electronic communication through ASN's, DDL, SMART, and Bar Coding.
- Participate and assist in the implementation of Continuous Improvement and TS 16949.
· Produce daily, weekly, monthly reports re: inventory, supplier ratings, delivery ratings, etc.
Attend Production and Engineering meetings on a regular basis.Provide training to new employees within the department.Maintain positive employee relations and address issues in a timely manner. Seek advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.Maintain a log of all premium freight charges, late/early or over/under receipts, and report on same monthly.Any other reasonable request made by management.Conduct Layered Process Audits as required.Contribute to a safe, clean, and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize, and support) are supported and adhered to.Ensure he/she is in full compliance with the laws of any state, while representing KVCRW or during the use of any KVRW provided equipment.Your Profile:
Qualifications:
Work Experience (provide details and minimum # of years required)
· Minimum five (5) years experience in Production/Inventory Control
· Prefer some time as a Manager/Supervisor

Knowledge – What knowledge of methods, procedures, equipment/technology are required?
- Good understanding of production processes and material flows.
- Sound knowledge of shipping and receiving practices, customs, and traffic laws as well as expediting regulations, e.g. plant, truck, provincial, state, customs.
- Familiar with the operation of equipment on the floor.
- Effective knowledge of MRP & ERP material systems.
- TS 16949 and ISO14001 criteria.
Judgment – Exercises judgment re:
- Establishing priorities regarding production and/or distribution.
- Reviewing costs associated with materials and manufacturing.
- Monitoring the expediting process to be followed by the plant and trucking firms.
- Deploying staff as a result of capacity planning for production schedules.
Accountability – Is accountable in areas of:
- Administering and managing annual departmental budget.
- Accountable for ensuring delivery to meet needs of all customers.
- Practicing Kan-Ban lean manufacturing philosophies when feasible.
- Ensuring effective inventory controls are in place and followed.
- Responding to requests for outside servicing e.g. customer concerns.
- Ensuring container management is practiced for all customers.
- Maintaining accurate records and data bases.
- Maintain Supplier Evaluation System.
- Employee participation in the ideas program.
