Mental Health Specialist Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Specialist Nurse to join our Inpatient Unit team at Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of evidence-based practice.
Job SummaryThis is a Band 6 Bank role that offers flexible working arrangements, providing an opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be required to undertake assessments of individuals with complex physical/mental health presentations, including those patients presenting with higher levels of risk.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs and preferences.
- Provide specialist nursing assessment and advice, ensuring effective communication with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Take the lead in delivering therapeutic group work programs, promoting patient engagement and recovery.
- Administer medication safely and effectively, adhering to relevant Trust procedures and NMC guidelines.
- Ensure patient safety by supervising patients within the Unit, grounds, and community as required.
- Provide clinical and managerial leadership on the ward, promoting a culture of excellence and quality care.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Registered Nursing qualification with the NMC.
- Significant post-qualification experience in mental health or substance misuse settings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage stressful situations.
- Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practice and NICE guidelines.
