Revenue Collector

Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a skilled Revenue Collector to play a vital role in the inspections of domestic and commercial properties throughout the borough.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate records are maintained, and tax liabilities are correctly billed and collected in accordance with service performance targets for Council Tax and Business Rates.

The team is responsible for maximising income collection while providing guidance and support to residents across the borough.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect domestic and commercial properties on a daily basis
• Make decisions based on information obtained during inspections
• Provide information and advice to external customers using knowledge of council tax and business rates legislation
• Monitor newly developed properties, liaise with site managers, and serve completion notices
• Ability to drive and possess a clean driving licence and have use of own car on a daily basis
• Deal with potentially violent, abusive, and uncooperative customers

Candidate Requirements:

• Previous experience of Council Tax and Business Rates
• Ability to work alone, manage a varied workload
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Excellent organisational skills
• Compassionate, empathetic, and understanding
