About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Technician to join our Domestic Connections team at Electricity North West (ENWL). As a Design Technician, you will play a crucial role in designing and managing low voltage electricity connections related projects on our distribution system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Management: Design, value, quote, and manage LVSSA and Single/Three Phase service alterations, low voltage statutory connections, including new connections, additional load requests, service alterations, and associated diversion and reinforcement work.
  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure all new connections related infrastructure is designed in accordance with current ENWL licence conditions, policy, and standards.
  • Customer Service: Provide first-class customer service to customers dealing with ENWL, taking a proactive approach to customer satisfaction.
  • Complaint Management: Manage customer complaints and support lead planners and managers with more complex complaints.
  • Performance Targets: Meet guaranteed standards of performance targets (GSOP) and licence condition 15 standards for the provision of non-contestable connection services.
  • Cost Optimization: Develop lowest cost design solutions in accordance with the common connections charging methodology while maintaining ENWL policy and standards of compliance.
  • Data Management: Input data for Ofgem reporting purposes and provide accurate forecasts of information for projects under control.
  • Leadership and Development: Depending on skills, knowledge, and experience, may be responsible for approving other engineers' work and supervising, training, and mentoring trainee/graduate engineers.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site-ready inspections where required.
Requirements
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent customer service skills and ability to deliver a 10/10 level of service at all times.
  • Low Voltage Network Design: Good understanding of low voltage network design.
  • Electrical Engineering: Experience with electrical engineering design and practices and understanding of the electricity distribution business.
  • Construction Management: Understanding of Construction Design Management regulations relating to domestic projects.
  • Commercial Awareness: High level of commercial awareness.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable approach, with good team working and interpersonal skills.
  • IT and Analytical Skills: Excellent IT skills and good analytical reasoning.
  • Communication and Organization: Excellent communication skills and well-organized.
  • Problem-Solving: Pragmatic problem-solving approach.
  • Driving License: Full clean driving license.
