About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in our secondary school. As a member of our Classroom Support team, you will work closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEN, including those with SEMH needs
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
  • Support the implementation of IEPs and BSPs
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to design inclusive learning opportunities
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with school policies
  • Build positive relationships with students, promoting their well-being and personal development

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with secondary school students with SEN
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of SEN, particularly SEMH
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or education (desirable)

  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being
