Senior Healthcare Support Worker Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our team in the Oncology and Haematology Outpatients department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and supporting the smooth running of clinics in the outpatient department. This will involve acting as a coordinator for the shift, organizing the day-to-day running of the clinics, transport, and the care of our patients.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care, with a strong interest in the specialty and knowledge of wider issues relating to healthcare. They will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a caring approach, and be a committed team player aiming to establish a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff.

The role will involve assisting doctors and specialist nurses in clinic, chaperoning patients during consultations, and taking blood tests (phlebotomy) and other laboratory samples. The team of Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomists is also responsible for ensuring a high standard of cleanliness is maintained throughout the department and that all equipment is stocked and available for each clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care and support the smooth running of clinics in the outpatient department.
  • Act as a coordinator for the shift, organizing the day-to-day running of the clinics, transport, and the care of our patients.

Requirements
  • Significant experience of the NHS and/or health/child care.
  • Strong interest in the specialty and knowledge of wider issues relating to healthcare.
  • Excellent communication skills and a caring approach.
  • Commitment to the Oxford University Hospitals' vision and values.
Working Arrangements

This is a full-time permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
