Job Title: Strategic Governance Expert

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Strategic Governance Expert to join our committee and contribute to the leadership and governance of Home Group. As a member of our committee, you will play a key role in shaping the organization's strategic priorities and ensuring the highest standards of corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attending committee meetings and contributing to discussions with your insights and expertise.
  • Reviewing and analysing reports related to the organisation's governance, financial, and operational management.
  • Providing expert opinion, analysis, and advice to enhance decision-making processes.
  • Engaging in constructive challenges to existing practices and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborating with committee members and the executive team to drive strategic priorities.
  • Participating in training sessions and staying updated on relevant sector developments.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in leadership, management, or regulatory roles in relevant sectors.
  • The skills and experience to help lead an ambitious, innovative and values-led housing association
  • Proven ability to work at a strategic level, think creatively and challenge constructively through the application of your knowledge and experience
  • Integrity and independent judgement alongside a commitment to the highest standards of corporate governance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with other Committee Members, Board Members and Executive teams
  • Enthusiasm and a desire to make a real difference to the lives of people in our communities.

What We Offer:

  • Pay of £3,000 per annum, and additional out of pocket expenses including travel and or accommodation
  • Commitment of between 6 and 8 in person committee meetings per year in Newcastle upon Tyne
  • Meetings are mostly during working hours in the afternoons.
  • Once appointed we'll build a specific induction and development programme, tailored to your professional and personal development needs
  • We ask for a minimum commitment of at least 2 years
  • You'll need an Enhanced DBS check, that we pay for
