Akkar is a leading engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Powertrain Systems Architect to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing and developing cutting-edge fuel-efficient powertrain systems for various applications, including motorsport, rail, and drones.

Job Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled professional with a strong background in control systems engineering to lead our powertrain systems architecture efforts. As a Senior Powertrain Systems Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing vehicle-level control systems that prioritize reliability and safety.

Technical Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Control System Architecture: Design and develop vehicle-level control systems that meet the highest standards of reliability and safety.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Conduct thorough safety analyses and integrate risk mitigation strategies into the design process.
  • Embedded Software Development: Develop real-time control software for embedded applications, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • System Modelling and Simulation: Create and apply models for system functionality and testing, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Test Rig Management: Develop, control, and validate test rigs to ensure accurate testing and validation of powertrain systems.
  • Validation and Documentation: Conduct thorough testing, calibration, and maintain detailed documentation of all powertrain systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++, and Visual Studio, with experience in developing real-time control software.
  • Data and Simulation: Strong skills in modelling, data generation, logging, and analysis, with the ability to create and apply models for system functionality and testing.
  • Vehicle Architecture and Communication: Knowledgeable in vehicle systems, CAN/LIN protocols, and tools like PEAK, CANalyzer, with experience in designing and integrating control systems.
  • Safety Protocols: Experienced in FMEA, HazOP, and PC applications (Word, Excel, Visio, Project), with a strong understanding of safety protocols and risk management.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
