Chief Scientific Adviser (National Security)

MI5 is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Scientific Adviser to lead our National Security Science team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide strategic advice on science and technology to inform our national security decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert scientific advice to MI5 leadership on national security science and technology issues.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to advance our science and technology capabilities.
  3. Collaborate with international partners and academia to access and influence the best thinking and innovation in national security science.
  4. Oversee the development and implementation of science and technology research and development programs across the organization.
  5. Sponsor innovation and engagement with the National Security Strategic Investment Fund.
  6. Represent MI5 in various government and industry forums.
  7. Engage with the Government Chief Scientific Adviser and the Chief Scientific Advisers network.

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant scientific or technical field.
  • Proven track record of providing strategic scientific advice to senior leaders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
