Senior Building Control Manager

The Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Control Manager to lead the operational management, ongoing development, and promotion of the Building Control Services. The successful candidate will provide inspirational leadership to a team of Building Control Surveyors to ensure the successful implementation and enforcement of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership: Provide constructive leadership to create the conditions for success and work across organisational boundaries.
- Performance: Work with management and colleagues to define outcomes, set targets, and monitor performance within a culture of continual improvement.
- Business Development: Routinely involve with partner organisations and be accountable for the delivery of building control contracts.
- Commissioning: Commissions services and activities to secure the best outcomes for service users and deliver optimum value for money.
- Customers and Partners: Build strong internal and external working partnerships to enable the service to be delivered in an outcome-focused and efficient way.
- Digital/New Ways of Working: Use new technologies to adopt modern agile working practices, improve customer service, and eliminate paper-based processes.
- Experience of undertaking Change Management planning and implementing new ways of working in a complex environment.
- Experience of the Building Regulations to verify that proposed designs and building work comply with these regulations.
- Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) at Class 3 and Class 4 is essential.
- Chartered Building Surveyor: MRICS is desirable.
- Relevant Degree in Building Surveying/Construction is essential.
Working hours: 36 hours per week.
The role reports to the Assistant Director Strategic Planning and Infrastructure and is responsible for the Building Control team.
