Position Overview

Are you interested in taking on a pivotal role as a senior clinical pharmacist within a forward-thinking, patient-centered pharmacy service?

We are seeking a dynamic and creative pharmacist to become a vital part of our pharmacy team. In this role, you will spearhead the formulation and execution of clinical and cost-effective medication utilization strategies across the organization.

This position offers flexibility in location, allowing you to work from various facilities within the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Clinical Pharmacist for Effectiveness Initiatives, you will collaborate closely with healthcare commissioners and regional specialist teams to devise and implement efficiency improvement plans for high-cost medication budgets and overall medication utilization.

By fostering strong relationships with clinical teams, you will actively contribute to the development and execution of treatment pathways for high-cost medications and innovative therapies.

As an integral member of the Trust's Drug and Therapeutics Committee, you will oversee the management of the Trust formulary, employing a robust evidence-based methodology, along with clear strategies for the introduction of new therapies, formulary decisions, and the application of endorsed treatments.

In your capacity as a member of the clinical pharmacy team, you will play a significant role in delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services that cater to the needs of patients and healthcare professionals within the organization.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Pharmacy
  • Postgraduate Diploma and/or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy and/or General Pharmacy Practice
  • Full current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Registered independent prescriber
  • A recognized NHS leadership qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in delivering advanced clinical pharmacy practice (minimum 5 years)
  • Significant experience in managing complex clinical pharmacy cases
  • Demonstrated clinical pharmacy experience in general medicine and surgery
  • Experience in one-on-one teaching and mentoring of pharmacy staff
  • Familiarity with staff management, performance appraisal, and objective setting
  • Knowledge of national and local medication commissioning processes

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in financial management
