Role Overview

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist Leadership Specialist to facilitate and lead pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and foundation level pharmacists within the Carlisle Primary Care Network (PCN).

Key Responsibilities
  • The leadership and proactive development of specialist clinical pharmacy services to patients within the Carlisle PCN.
  • Providing specialist clinical pharmacy services to patients within the Carlisle PCN and developing services in line with appropriate national standards.
  • The post holder will be involved in local incentive schemes, provide leadership on quality improvement and clinical audit as well as long-term condition clinics and managing some aspects of the Quality and Outcomes Framework.
  • Providing expert and highly specialised pharmaceutical information and advice to medical and nursing staff, other health professionals, and patients, both within the Trust and externally as appropriate.
  • Providing clinical training, guidance, support, and supervision of junior pharmacists, pre-registration trainees, other Pharmacy staff, and other PCN staff as required.
  • Promoting the medicines optimisation agenda by leading specific audit and research projects and providing support to others.
  • Evaluating and expanding the role of pharmacy services within North Cumbria and in particular within the PCN as well as delivering the required medication safety and governance agendas.
