About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ecological Consultant to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering high-quality ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver ecological assessments, surveys, and mitigation strategies for a diverse range of projects.
  • Collaborate with a large team of ecologists, landscape architects, arboriculturists, and environmental planners to drive project success.
  • Develop and implement effective ecological management plans to ensure compliance with UK ecology legislation and best practice.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on biodiversity net gain, DEFRA statutory biodiversity metric, and associated reports and plans.
  • Manage and deliver ecological projects, meeting deadlines and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Requirements
  • At least a degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • A proven track record in managing and delivering ecological projects, including small to large-scale and complex sites.
  • Experience in ecological consultancy, with a strong focus on conducting surveys, assessments, and project management.
  • Sound knowledge of UK ecology legislation, guidelines, and best practice.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIEEM).
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
