About the Role

Vistry Group PLC is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team in Wakefield. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver cost control and financial reporting duties, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of construction costs.
  • Work closely with other departments, including Land, Development, and Construction, to advise on cost implications and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Attend design meetings, development meetings, and contract pre-start meetings to ensure accurate cost estimation and control.
  • Prepare and review construction cost analysis, including analysis of quotations and requests for additional information.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Director to assess site staffing levels and build programs, ensuring accurate cost estimation and control.
  • Arrange and adjudicate budget settlement meetings, ensuring timely and accurate payment of subcontractors.
  • Prepare stage payment schedules to assist in the financing of works, ensuring accurate and timely payment of subcontractors.
  • Carry out pre-order meetings, including Health & Safety requirements, to finalize tender sums and agree stage payment schedules.
  • Place subcontractor orders, negotiate contract sums, and finalize costs to cover late variations.
  • Issue variation orders and development changes, providing cost advice on major variations prior to issue.
  • Check and arrange subcontractor payments, obtaining necessary authorizations for passing payments.
  • Agree final accounts with subcontractors, ensuring all works have been carried out within budget and analyzing costs to assist on future estimates.
  • Take responsibility for the preparation of documents for external valuation with the client's agent.
  • Keep the RAMS schedule updated and issued to all relevant parties.
  • Liaise with the Customer Service department on post-completion defects, providing cost advice where necessary.
  • Attend site meetings, project team meetings, subcontractor meetings, and surveying meetings as required.
