Radiotherapy Accessibility Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Radiotherapy Accessibility Coordinator at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. This exciting opportunity will allow you to make a real difference in the lives of our patients and contribute to the delivery of outstanding care and service.
The successful candidate will work closely with cancer patients to identify social and support needs through the completion of electronic holistic needs assessments (eHNA). They will assist with discharge planning to prevent increased length of stay and improve patient experience.
The role will involve liaising with community and social services, as well as working with existing accessibility coordinators within Mount Vernon to ensure a seamless service across the cancer centre, particularly for vulnerable patients.
As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will contribute to service provision by providing elements of direct and indirect patient care and clerical work. They will be expected to facilitate and support care delivery, information giving, and communication and coordination.
The successful candidate will also have the additional benefits of being a Macmillan post holder.
Main Duties of the JobThe duties of this role will be varied and dependent on the support needed on a daily basis by the nursing staff. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting patients to complete electronic holistic needs assessments, identifying concerns, and supporting the implementation of the care plan.
- Working closely with staff across the cancer centre and within the community to support patients' social and support needs.
- Receiving patient calls and making pre-planned outbound calls to patients to assess ongoing needs.
- Supporting vulnerable patients and those with complex support and care requirements within the specialist cancer inpatient environment.

Detailed Job Description and Main ResponsibilitiesENHT is seeking to maintain and expand the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre staff as we move to an exciting new future.

In addition, you will receive a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,314 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata.

Person SpecificationQualifications/TrainingEssential Criteria- Secondary Education GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- NVQ 4 equivalent
- Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care
- Relevant experience in a healthcare setting at Band 3 or above
- A range of administrative/secretarial skills
- Knowledge of cancer and treatments, interventions, and terminology
- Handling telephone enquiries
- NHS experience
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Good verbal/written and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good management and prioritisation or workload skills
- Able to work on own initiative and unsupervised but also as a team member.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to support other members of the team.
