Mental Health Support Worker

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioural Assistant to join our team in a school setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have mental health needs and be able to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
The Behavioural Assistant will provide direct support to students with mental health needs, both individually and in groups. This will involve developing and implementing individualised support plans, working collaboratively with teachers and other staff to identify and address student mental health concerns, and maintaining accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mental health issues and strategies for support, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and have a genuine passion for supporting young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to students with mental health needs, both individually and in groups.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised support plans.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and other staff to identify and address student mental health concerns.
- Support classroom activities and facilitate a positive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role or relevant experience working with children or adults with mental health difficulties
- Knowledge of mental health issues and strategies for support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or a related field are desirable.
