About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our remote support team at TGW Group. As a key member of our technical team, you will play a vital role in providing expert support to our customers and ensuring the smooth operation of our control systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer professional telephone support to customers, resolving operational and systematic issues effectively.
  • Technical Expertise: Be the technical expert for any Controls-related issues on a range of sites across the UK, Europe, and the US.
  • Ticket Management: Maintain and manage the ticket system and department documentation.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to LTS and Customer on-site teams.
  • Problem Escalation: Escalate problems within the wider business where required and continue to manage the problem until resolved.
  • Communication: Provide effective communication to senior management and support colleagues.
  • PLC Code Development: Develop and test PLC code to support upgrades and enhancements.
  • On-Site Support: Provide on-site support opportunities as required to support project works and training.
Requirements
  • Experience: Materials handling/Automation experience as a controls engineer or an electrically biased maintenance or commissioning engineer.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in Industrial Control Systems (Siemens Step 7 to TIA Portal), knowledge of Drives and Networks within an automated system, and ability to read Electrical drawings to fault find.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communications skills and experience dealing directly with customers/end users.
  • Software Skills: Experience with MS Office suite, and be comfortable with Word, Excel, and Outlook products.
