Chaplain - Anglican Ordained Deacon Religious Brother Sister Lay Person (Full Time)

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Anglican chaplain to provide faith and pastoral care to prisoners and staff in our establishment. The successful candidate will be a qualified and licensed minister in the Anglican tradition, with a strong understanding of Anglican theology and religious practice.
Key Responsibilities- Provide faith and pastoral care to prisoners and staff, including advice, support, and spiritual guidance.
- Facilitate and deliver worship, meditation, and study programs for prisoners and staff.
- Contribute to the development of local policy, procedures, and practice related to faith and pastoral care.
- Provide mentoring and personal support for other chaplains and volunteers.
- Be part of the provision of available and accessible chaplaincy care at all times.
- Plan and lead worship, meditation, and prayer services.
- Provide pastoral care to prisoners and help to resolve crisis situations.
- Nurture chaplaincy volunteers in their contribution.
- Facilitate services provided by contractors and volunteers.
- Work collaboratively with other chaplains and the managing chaplain on the maintenance and provision of facilities for worship and prayer.
- Ensure the prison community is aware of relevant religious events and coordinate establishment support for these.
- Acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials.
- Contribute to training programs and materials for staff and volunteers.
- Be part of the organization and delivery of faith awareness training for staff.
- Take responsibility for your own spiritual health and development.
- Provide appropriate support to the establishment in the absence of the managing chaplain.
- Actively support the Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) process.
- Attend relevant boards and meetings and actively contribute as a team member.
- Forge links with local faith communities and other agencies to aid the resettlement of offenders.
- Participate in developing ways to improve and achieve targets as required.
- Must be a qualified and licensed minister in the Anglican tradition.
- Must have a strong understanding of Anglican theology and religious practice.
- Must have formal endorsement from the HMPPS Anglican Faith Adviser confirming eligibility and suitability.
- Must have Diocesan DBS clearance and up to date safeguarding training.
- Must have a recognized qualification in theology or religious study.
- Must have relevant practical experience in delivery of worship, group work, and pastoral care.
The successful candidate will work a 37-hour working week.
