About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Director to join our team at Torfaen County Borough Council. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial advice to the Council and leading our Resources directorate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the Council and its leadership team
  • Lead the Resources directorate and develop its strategy and plans
  • Manage the Council's £4bn pension fund
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to resource management
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and other senior leaders to achieve the Council's objectives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong background in finance and accounting
  • Experience of working in a democratic context
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively
  • Post-qualification professional development and a qualified accountant
